Dried Onion Soup Mix
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1/2 C. of mix~~is the equivalent of a 1.5 oz. envelope of dried onion soup mix.
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. browning sauce (such as Kitchen Bouquet)
1/4 tsp. granulated sugar
1/2 C. dehydrated onion (chopped or minced)
Combine onion powder, salt and sugar in a small bowl.  Add browning sauce and stir until seasonings are uniformly brown.  Add dehydrated onion and mix thoroughly until color is again even.  This step takes several minutes.
Onion Soup Mix Substitute
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1/4 C. instant minced onion
2 T. bouillon
1/2 tsp. onion powder

Mix well. This equals 1 (1-3/8 ounce) package onion soup mix.  In uncooked recipes such as dips, you may need to refrigerate a little longer than usual.

Greetings Jean,

I would use the bouillon (beef~for brown, chicken if you would rather. You could also use a vegetable based bouillon).

Happy New Year, May 2006 be alot better than 2005!

much blessings~dreamingrose
