| Heyoka and John-- Thanks for posting again into this thread. Other "things" have come up in my life and I haven't been back here in a while. It is hard to believe it has been almost 2 years ago that this thread began. Something that should be mentioned, perhaps, it the almost completely media black-out of anything to do with Occupy Wall Street and its many manifestations. I have never seen this before in my life! Not this complete blackout of the resistance. It matters not, anymore, be you "Democrat" or "Republican" or even "Progressive." Out side of the internet you will not hear about Occupy. Like the CO2 building in our atmosphere, perhaps the BIG MEDIA hope that if it is not spoken of, it will not "exist." I am here to tell you...that will not be so! The resistance will live on until the powers of greed and corruption have been dismantled. Quoting Bob Marley, "get up, stand up...stand up for your rights." Finding new posts here gives me hope. Long Live the Resistance! |

| Hello heyoka-- Great post. I would just like to broaden the issue here. Beyond your "Our POTUS has done it now" and the particular manifestations of the "end of democracy" you mention is something much bigger and broader and appears to be the emergent theme of this whole Occupy thread. And it is simply this, and has been said by others, "Somehow we have to get beyond the place of 'whoever has the most money wins.'" Rule of money; for money by money with liberty and justice for whoever has the most money, has ended democracy. And, yeah, the name for this is Plutocracy. I end with this...in a time when hope dims...to have hope regardless, and keep true to the hope that democracy will once again emerge from the calamity and chaos that we know. Democracy has been "killed" before in this country, in fact if you look beyond the nationalistic and "patriotic" rhetoric you can see our history as a "democracy" is a work in progress and has never been fully achieved. Perhaps what is at question is whether we are moving "two steps forward and one step back" or "one step forward and two steps back." We have never regained democracy from the plutocrats in our history without a tremendous struggle and great sacrifices and I don't suppose this time will be any different. I sit here throwing words onto a bulletin board and hope that they, like all the other words and ideas in this whole long thread, will be like seeds that will germinate when enough people become aware enough of what is really going on and rise up to stop it. I hope we have time. |

Our POTUS has done it now. Bargaining with Tea Party madmen who wish to drown government in the bath tub, Obama, "the hope", has put Social Security and Medicare on the bargaining table. Instead of ending the Keystone Pipeline project under the impact of the ruptured lines in Arkansas, that too, is back on his bargaining table...even as we know the planet is burning...even as we know there is no future in petrochemicals...even as we know these things will make our world and the world of our grandchildren uninhabitable. Things that needed doing thirty or forty years ago have been left undone, withered in the shade of those whose only motivations are short term profits, those who would "shrink government down to the size they can drown it in a bathtub" to insure said obscene wealth disparity and to hell with everything and everybody else. Destroy Public Education! Privatize all Things! The United Corporation of America! Do you, brothers and sisters, remember phases like "social and economic justice"? In living wages, in an essential social dignity, in fairness, the the essential dignity afforded all life. In world where political power is more than, "whoever has the most money wins?" Do you remember, or can you imagine social democracy? A world of citizens "of certain unalienable Rights?" 93 yr. old Stephane Hessel called this a "Time for Outrage", saying "We are told, shamelessly, that the state cannot bear the cost of certain civil measures anymore. But how can we lack the funds to maintain these programs when our nations enjoy greater wealth than at any time since the Liberation, when Europe lay in ruins? How else to explain this than the corrupting power of money, which the Resistance fought so fiercely against, and which is now greater, more insolent, and more selfish than ever." Darkness descends, brothers and sisters. These are the "Trembling Times." The political process that once resembled democracy is BROKEN and is drowned in oceans of MONEY. The 1% revels in all this. The hope of progressive minded people dashed on the rocks of unending compromise by all those in power. I consider plutocracy "despotism." Nothing will change until we the people awaken and bring the Thunder to the Pyramid of Power. This is a time for courageous action.  |

We are working on a solution to what appears to be a combination of Denial of Service and name resolution. Please know that we are aware of the problem and working hard to find a solution. | We are seriously out of Balance with Our World. The Earth speaks of the changes coming. Do we listen? She dreams of healing. We continue, racing on this pathway of imbalance towards the cliffs edge, accelerating faster when we should be putting on the brakes, reconsidering all of our actions, our motives, Our Selves. Those who speak, and if you listen carefully ~ or not ~ as it is obvious, have an agenda, are so far removed from Nature they know not what they speak. Those with an agenda are motivated by 'Greed'. The 'mindset' of these insulated people, or those wishing for that lavish lifestyle of the wealthy, are so removed from the 'Reality' of Life, and of All Nature, justifying their actions as 'natural forces', When in 'Reality' it is their own force, their own imbalance that they project onto the world as a whole, not just in their little lives, but everywhere, seeking an power (empty as it is), over what? All Life? Some who speak for Nature, speak as if Nature is human. Another imbalance. Nature is Wild. Is Pure from that taint of monetary obsession, or the gluttony of, 'the more than you Need' syndrome. Humans are mostly domesticated and tamed. Some may even venture to say 'controlled' by manipulation. Manipulation of facts, or words dressed up to 'suggest' it's exact opposite, many are manipulated by money, some by need, some through exhaustion. People can clearly 'see' that we are out of alignment for what Is Right and Good for this Earth and Our Children, for ourselves, for the generations to come. I grew up in a time when the Earth was Alive and we knew it. When the 'voice' that was heard, was for social and economic justice. Where people 'cared' about others, and the environment. It was More then just me, it was A Culture, it was A Society. Our Society as Americans, as Citizens of this Earth. I see the Great Divide, as I have seen it for the last 3-4 decades, but now it is an Abyss. People derided, belittled, called names to those that cared about the Earth and gave the clarion call of warning back then. But those people that gave the warning then were absolutely right about how the state of things would be. And here we are. We all 'know' deep down, We Are Going to Get Clobbered! The Earth is Alive. Her water is alive, her flesh the land is alive, the air we breathe. She being in a fever is going to do more then shake,rattle and roll. Clobbered by Extreme temperatures. Extreme weather. Lack of fresh water, of good clean earth. Lack of Food (you can bet your bottom dollar industry is going to 'Own' it, and make us pay obscene amounts that most will not be able to afford, as we see with the Hunger issues on the Planet right, when there really is More Then Enough Food to Feed All The People on the planet, but people still starve, children and elderly go hungry). Why? I will tell you, though you know ~ Greed. So, I ask: Why? Why? When we Know this? We Know that Greed is running the show, and not only running it, but turning it into a great tragedy born straight out of Ignorance. What will it be Human Intelligence or Greed, because that's what it comes down too, and We All Know It. Starfire |
