*Admin note*--This post has been moved to the 2006-2007 section.  It was originally posted in the 2005-2006 section because I inadvertently had made the demonstration grants section invisible.  Please accept my apologies for any problems this may have caused.

Elcho School District                  Demonstration Project      Mid-year Report

Perhaps the most interesting component of the programming provided by the Elcho School District is the on-site Child Care program.  You can see an overview of this programming on our web pages at www.elcho.k12.wi.us.

In the 2006-2007 school year we changed our 4K model to offer two half-day sections, morning and afternoon.  The morning section is held in the Child Care classroom while the afternoon session is held in the Head Start classroom located across the hall.  Through this, families have the option of participating in full-day programming.

Grant funds continue to support collaborative efforts for professional development of our collaborative staff and in conjunction with other entities in Langlade County.

End of Year Report--Sun Prairie

Sun Prairie Area School District (SPASD)
Demonstration Grant 2006-07

As a Demonstration Project, SPASD hosted 12 school district site visits which included a tour of community options, lunch and a time to collaborate between district staff.  The district serves 50% of our ECSE children in their natural settings/team-taught preschool at child care.  District staff also presented at the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association conference and CESA 2 workshops and district site visits.

The district provided ten hours of training to child care providers in the areas of Thematic Teaching, Special Education Services in Child Care, Journey in Behavior Management, and Space Unit (thematic teaching).

The district provides Boardmaker programs to each Early Childhood classroom (2) and we used Demonstration funds to purchase a pouch laminator and pouch board laminator. The laminators have helped facilitate the use of pictures and communication systems throughout the child care centers, preschool, Headstart, and home environments.
